In recent years, “chakra balance” has become a popular phrase — but what does it really mean? Why should you bother having your chakras balanced? And why is it so essential for your emotional and energetic health?
Let’s take a journey into the ancient wisdom of the chakra system, explore how each energy center functions, and the importance of chakra balance, not only in each of the chakras, but also why the balance between the chakras is of key importance too. And don't forget to watch my video below.
Chakras- a Brief History
The concept of the chakras originates from ancient Hindu texts, particularly the Vedas (circa 1500–500 BCE). The Sanskrit word chakra means “wheel” or “disc,” symbolizing spinning centers of energy in the human body.
Later, the Tantric traditions of Hinduism and Kundalini Yoga refined this concept. They described seven primary chakras located along the spinal column, each associated with a specific color, vibration, sound or mantra, and physiological function. These energy centers were not considered physical organs but metaphysical hubs regulating the flow of prana (life force).
The Difference Between Eastern and Western Medicine
Each Chakra influences different aspects of human life, from survival and sexuality to compassion, intuition, and spiritual connection. The organs and glands of the body sit behind the various Chakras and can be affected by imbalances in them.
Eastern healing techniques — including Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Shiatsu, Ayurveda, Reiki and even arts like Tai Chi and Qigong — are all energy-based and emphasize healing energy imbalances, optimizing energy flow to nourish the vital organs, and achieving complete mind, body, and spiritual balance and control.
The source of all kinds of issues and the energy they create, are therefore of the utmost importance. This is of course an entirely different concept to western medicine that tends to look at the issue itself and not the root cause, healing the issue whichever way it can by removing it through an operation if it can, or by calming it down or restraining it with a tablet or treatment.
It is my personal belief that eastern and western medicine can be considered as an effective combination for many complaints and illnesses and that starting with a good look at your Chakras and balancing them beautifully, is usually a great place to start any kind of healing, be that physical, emotional, mental or otherwise.
🌿 Why Is Chakra Balance Important?
Many physical symptoms and emotional patterns are not random — they are energy imbalances. Fatigue, digestive issues, anxiety, or feeling stuck often trace back to blockages or excess energy in one or more chakras.
When your chakras are balanced:
You feel emotionally resilient, sure and clear-headed
You can express yourself without fear
You feel connected to your purpose and grounded in reality
Your body functions better, with more vitality and ease
When they are out of balance, you may experience:
Overwhelm or burnout
Anxiety, fatigue or depression
Health issues or chronic tension
A sense of confusion, unhappiness, discomfort within or a feeling of misalignment, or a simple loss of direction.
Balancing your chakras creates a stable internal foundation so your energy can rise and fall in a healthy rhythm.
Of course, if you have some kind of physical issue, balancing the chakras which are concerned with this will be of help for your long term healing too. In some cases, several chakras may be concerned and need attention and the balance also redressed between them.

🧘♀️ What Happens When One Chakra Has More Energy Than Another?
Here’s the crucial part that’s often missing in mainstream chakra teachings:
It’s not just about “activating” each chakra — it’s about how energy moves between them.
Imagine your chakra system like a river flowing from your base to the crown. If one part of the river is blocked or swollen, the flow becomes distorted. A strong third eye with a weak throat leads to visions with no voice. A powerful solar plexus but a blocked heart results in ego-driven decisions, lacking compassion.
Every chakra is in relationship with the ones above and below it. Balance between chakras ensures that:
Energy moves fluidly through your body
Insights are expressed clearly
Emotions are grounded and positive
Power is used wisely
💡 Examples of Chakra Pair Imbalance
Chakra Pair | Result of Imbalance |
Crown ↔ Third Eye | Spiritual disconnection, overthinking, loss of intuitive trust |
Third Eye ↔ Throat | Insight not expressed, or excessive talking with no depth |
Throat ↔ Heart | Cold communication, or emotionally charged or bitter words |
Heart ↔ Solar Plexus | Giving too much, controlling love, poor boundaries |
Solar Plexus ↔ Sacral | Burnout, creative suppression, or obsessive control |
Sacral ↔ Root | Fear of intimacy, instability in pleasure, lack of safety in expression |
🌀 How to Balance Your Chakras Holistically
Balancing chakras isn’t just about visualizing colors. It’s about listening to your body and aligning your energy through daily choices.
Here’s how to start:
1. Tune into Your Body
Notice where you feel tension or numbness. This often points to an energetic imbalance.
2. Breathwork Across the Spine
Breathe gently from root to crown, imagining energy flowing up and down your spine evenly. This reconnects the chakra pathways.
3. Get Active!
Yoga, dance, stretching, walking, cycling, you name it, just get dem der Chakras moving and happy!
4. Eat the Rainbow
Eat a wide range of colored foods that correspond to chakra frequencies. A plate full of natural color = a nourished energy system.
5. Work with a Healer like me!
Reiki, intuitive coaching, or body energy work can help you realign what’s difficult to sense alone — especially when energetic bridges are stuck. Find out about my healing sessions here.
6. Tune into the Right Frequencies
List to chanting such as OM ( the sound of the universe) or the sound you need for each chakra. Vibration-based healing (like sound bowls or tuning forks) are powerful tools to unblock energy flow. Ask me if you need help on this.
